The Ministry of Social Affairs, Study Department, is responsible
for gathering statistical and financial information, analysing the
evolution and consolidating the numbers coming from all social agencies.
This assures quality control and centralised reporting for all decision-makers
within the Ministry, political cabinets, Social Security Agency
management, etc.
The DABAS Application contains information on the evolution of revenues
and the split in money distribution between the different agencies.
The Ministry use the application Planning of Infor
and Essbase for this application, and the models developed are used
for the analysis and reporting of all the data.
Twice a year, a so-called "Vade Mecum" is printed from
the Planning models - a binder of more than a hundred reports and
statistics - and distributed among the different agencies and other
users. The application EIS of Infor allows public officers, both
internal and external to the Ministry, to access the information
and compute their own ratios.
"The application is always changing. Any decision taken at
political level pushes us to revise data, re-analyse information,
produce new reports, but to still assure continuity in the actual
numbers, comparisons and evolution. Only a flexible and multidimensional
system such as the application Infor Planning, Essbase & Infor
EIS allows us to constantly modify data, structures and reports
the way we need it."
Martine Van Lathem and Peter Lelie, Responsible of DABAS
