ING is one of Belgium's major banks. The
Internal Financial Management department consists of four major
divisions: Planning and Controlling, Management Information, Accounting,
and Overhead Costs. For strategic reasons, the Managing Director
of the department reports directly to the President of the Bank.
The use of multidimensional datastores has a long history in the
department, as earlier Infor applications had
been used for many years. The new generation of Client-Server software,
which interacts very well with the existing office automation tools,
persuaded the potential users. Offering very easy development, ING
has been able to build prototypes and models very quickly.
The Infor applications have made it possible
to convert several existing applications, as well as quickly launch
new ones. These applications include: Cost breakdown by Function,
Reporting on Belgian affiliates (Sièges), Budget Simulations,
and the Consolidation of costs of the remote affiliates.
