General Objectives:
The objective of this training is to teach you to:

Master OLAP concepts.

Understand the importance of building
multi-dimensional models and to apply this in the day-to-day
job.

Design an Essbase database manually
or with the help of "Rules".

Master the concepts and principles of the calculation engine, its condensed syntax and the precedence of the calculations.

Learn how to load data into Essbase using different methods.
-
Export data towards specific file formats.
-
Acquire the first notions of database security, administration, optimisation and storage.
You will learn to:

Use the Excel interface.

Design an application and define the structure of the multi-dimensional database.

Understand and use all the tools.
-
Create formulas in outline.
-
Automatically create dimensions with DLR.
-
Integrate data from text files, with and without load rules.
-
Manage profiles and authorisations.
-
Create limited access to data (filters).
-
Write Essbase calculation scripts using the most common commands.
-
Understand Essbase calculation principles (default precedence and precedence managed by scripts, advantages / inconveniences, optimisation).

Understand and apply the principles of the intelligent and dynamic calculations (advantages).

Manage matrices (dense & sparse axes, initiation in optimisation: block & index).

Use substitution variables.

Master report specifications in order to extract data.
-
Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
