Construction company CFE controls better the profitability of its activities with Cognos (formerly Applix) TM1

CFE, founded in 1881, is the biggest building company quoted on the stock exchange in Belgium and is part of the group VINCI. The range of activities includes civil engineering works, road engineering, real estate development, buildings and industrial constructions, dredging and environmental works
and electrifi cation in the broad sense of the word. In its main activity as a constructor, CFE is leader in Belgium and is very active in the Netherlands, Luxemburg and Central Europe. CFE is co-shareholder of DEME, one of the biggest dredging companies in the world. The group realized in 2004 a consolidated turnover of 854,4 million euro.

CFE uses Cognos (formerly Applix) TM1 for the financial and economic reporting of around 60 companies and approximately 300 active construction sites in the world. Around 30 users work with Cognos (formerly Applix) TM1, the majority of whom work in head office and a few are decentralised in other subsidiaries. CFE carries out a limited reporting with consolidated reports according to company, product, manager and site on a monthly basis. Complete reporting, including an order book, takes place quarterly. This reporting also includes the budgetary expectations for which the rolling budgeting technique is applied.
